backstory
We started our careers during the heyday of unscripted television - sports docs, small-town businesses, home renovators, shark specials (and of course the thing we all love to hate, and hate to love) reality shows. As development executives our jobs were to find fascinating everyday people and businesses with amazing stories and pitch them to networks like Discovery, National Geographic, and Netflix.
At the center of each pitch is a video with the sole purpose of highlighting the very best parts of a personality. These short, but critical videos decide who is greenlit and who is passed on. Which brings us to CoverStory.
While brainstorming how to adapt our own skills in a quickly changing world, we hit a roadblock. How do we translate what makes us successful in previous experiences into new opportunities? Why were resume, cover letters, and traditional networking falling short? How could we cut through quickly?
We realized it wasn't just us. Everyone has amazing experiences that don't fit in an application, social media post, or business deck. Could the same short videos we perfected in television and streaming be used to pitch people instead of shows?
CoverStory was born.
Now we are taking the same proven formula that plucked everyday Americans and placed them on tv to help you get jobs, make connections and introduce yourself to the world.
